Top 5 Best Christmas Songs

On my 25 Days of Christmas Countdown Calendar, today is fully dedicated to listening to Christmas music.  It’ll be playing in my car, in my room, during my shower, everywhere possible.  Although I do love most Christmas music, I certainly have my favorites.  In no particular order, here are my top 5 favorite songs that get me in the holiday spirit.

“Text Me Merry Christmas” by Straight No Chaser (featuring Kristen Bell)

Now that the musical cat is out of the bag that Kristen can sing, the world is taking advantage of the gift she has, and it’s amazing.  This song is hilarious, and if you’ve never heard it, you must right now.  I mean it. Go.  Kristen is adorable and SNC is flawless as always.  The song plays at our generally dysfunctional communication skills as human beings, and it is oh-so satirically wonderful.

“Carol of the Bells” by Leontovych and Wilhousky

I think the reason I love this song so much is because in the beginning of The Santa Clause, this song is playing and they show scenes of what Christmas looks like and everything seems right in the world.  I grew up thinking that this song was everything Christmas should be, and I was right.

“The Christmas Can-Can” Straight No Chaser

SNC’s more popular Christmas song is their rendition of “Twelve Days of Christmas” but the first song I heard of them was this one, and I thought it was the funniest thing ever.

“Grown Up Christmas List” By Kelly Clarkson

The true meaning of Christmas is what this song is about.  Unfortunately there are children with wish lists longer than the Declaration of Independence, and don’t appreciate the fact that, while they think they need an iPhone 6, some children are hoping not to go to bed hungry. Regardless, it’s a great song that keeps you grounded.

“All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carrey

This has definitely turned into a holiday classic and will outlive most every pop Christmas single to come out.  There is no denying that, at least once this year, you will go for the high note with varying results.

Honorable Mentions go out to “Christmas Shoes” by NewSong and “Twelve Pains of Christmas by Bob Rivers.

What would Christmas really be if you didn’t quickly switch the radio station every time this song came on as to avoid sobbing? Even better is finding that “Twelve Pains” is on the next station and happily go about your day.

As always, thanks for reading, I hope you’ll subscribe to my blog and come back every day until Christmas to celebrate Blogmas with me!
